For over 25 years, the Skylight Gallery is an auction-format cataloged sale offering 19th and 20th century photography in a range of media, in line with those 19th Century photographers whose work spanned the means of photographic expression "on plate, on glass, and on paper."

Featuring 99 lots of vintage photography:
Daguerreotypes include early French plate of connoisseur with statuette, collection of 24 outstanding ninth plates, hand-colored lithograph showing a daguerreian studio, half plate of woman wearing hand-colored glasses, bust of Rebecca Knower by Erastus Palmer, plates by Brady Studio, Bogardus, Alphonse Le Blondel, Claudet. Andrieux, Mayers Freres, Fixon, Warren Thompson, Razimbaud, and others.
Ethnographic images include Vietnam, Peru, Australia, New Zealand, an interesting Caribbean album of over 80 pages, and early 1880s Japanese albumen prints, including a series of uncommon and attractive early prints by Kusakabe Kimbei, produced before the studio's (somewhat disruptive) insertion of titles and numbers into the negatives in later years.
Photographer images include views of Ermé Désiré's Cairo studio, and Hardie Brothers' precarious perch atop Lookout Mountain, Tennessee. Paper images in the sale range from the 1860s through the end of the 19th century, with work by Frederick Hollyer, Le Blondel, Philippe Jacques Potteau, and others.
